co2 refrigeration compressor

A co2 refrigeration compressor inquiry is an application question about R744 pressure levels, oil management and whether the quoted architecture is screw or reciprocating with the required control range. Transcritical reciprocating families and compact screw families used with other refrigerants are not interchangeable evidence. Refrigeration Compressor Sourcing is an independent sourcing partner. We help US buyers write the refrigerant path, suction and discharge interfaces, and the pressure envelope so factories quote the same duty. We do not convert another project’s R744 selection into yours, and we do not treat a catalog HFC screw as proven for CO2 service.

Operating context
CO2 duty changes working pressure, oil solubility and relief-device selection compared with a medium-pressure HFC circuit. Ask the refrigeration-system designer to confirm the complete pressure envelope and integration; a compressor page that does not name R744 is not a CO2 offer. Upstream suction piping, oil separators and downstream gas coolers or condensers still have to be listed as included or extra. Footprint, three-phase supply and PLC interface remain buyer inputs even when the refrigerant is already chosen.
  1. Material route: Sample run

State that the refrigerant is R744, the intended high-side and low-side pressures, evaporating and gas-cooler or condensing temperatures, and whether the architecture is a dedicated transcritical reciprocating frame or another family the supplier names in writing. Ask for capacity and input power at those points, not only swept volume. Representative production samples here means the actual suction gas condition and oil type, not a generic air-conditioning rating.

  2. Site readiness

Confirm oil-management arrangement, relief and isolation valves, cooling water or air for oil and gas coolers, connected load, footprint and work envelope. If the site cannot meet the assumed gas-cooler temperature, the quoted duty is not demonstrated. Installation piping, high-pressure fittings and training hours should be marked included or excluded on the same comparison sheet.

  3. Owner acceptance

Agree measurement locations for pressures, oil temperature, delivered duty and electrical input. Identify who owns setpoint changes after handover. One catalog certificate does not cover this project’s FAT. Optional budget (currency, per-unit or whole-order) and premium / mid-range / budget-friendly preference guide search priority only; they are not verified factory ratings. Cycle time language from packaging machinery does not apply.

How does the proposed application affect co2 refrigeration compressor selection? Pressure envelope, oil circuit and architecture must be named for R744. A screw family documented for other refrigerants is not automatically a CO2 machine. Is the quoted compressor a screw or reciprocating design with the required control range? That answer has to appear on the selection sheet. Which upstream and downstream interfaces must be confirmed? Suction and discharge connections, oil return, gas cooler or condenser, electrical landing and PLC signals. Refrigeration Compressor Sourcing will request factory quotes on those written assumptions; it will not invent a transcritical rating.

Name R744 pressures before treating a CO2 compressor as interchangeable

Send evaporating and gas-cooler conditions with the architecture so factories do not reuse an HFC selection.
